"...Down in celebration, florida" -- Celebration, Florida, Chumbawamba

Is it personal gain, if you sit and stare at your computer willing it a website to show you a cheap airfare? LOL Apparently it works, because yesterday afternoon I found tickets to Florida for Christmas with the parents for $434. :) My whole goal and visualization was "Under $500, Under $500". YIPPEE!!

Had a wonderful lunch with Dirk yesterday at our favorite little Mediterrean place here in town, Santorini's. We sat at the bar and bullshited with Lou, one of the owners, while he played "mixologist" -- meaning he was trying to come up with some new martini drinks and we had to sample each of them and give him an opinion. I suggested blackberry vodka with vanilla vodka and a mint leaf to garnish. He didn't have a mint leaf, but damn was the drink good.

Went to the grocery store last night to pick up my list for the pumpkin party -- what kind of grocery stores doesn't have apple cider??? I'll be stepping out this afternoon on an apple cider quest for the wassail, oh! that reminds me I need to go to the liquor store as well.

<<>>> That was my stomach reminding me that it is 12:42 PM and I need to stop rambling on in my blog, go eat and come back and concentrate on work.

Until we chat again....

"Well fuck that from now on i'm an artist, I carve pumpkins chop chewy" -- Pumpkin Carver, Insane Clown Posse

still humming...Pumpkin carvers that be the hobby...Sotown, motown collectin' bodies..

What an odd song...anywho...the annual Pumpkin Carving Party is this thursday...wooo-hooo! I love carving pumpkins. Last year we had about 15 carved pumpkins after the party, I'll have to find the pictures. We put tea lights in all of them and lined them up on the driveway and it looked so cool. I still have to get to the grocery store and get the food, drinks and whatnot. I so love party planning. :)

The Witches Ball this weekend was a lot of fun. I ran into so many people that I only see once or twice a year. As usual we worked the ball, which is a ton of fun because we work the front door and get to see everyone as they come in the door and then once everything is in swing we can go socialize. I need to get the pictures off the digital camera to share.

Talked with my mom yesterday, she's really worn out and really wants me to come to Florida for Christmas. I can't find plane tickets under $500, so a grand for plane tickets and roughly $400 to kennel the dogs, I have NO idea how to swing this. She already told us "..don't worry about the cost..." I hate having to have them pick up the bill, but we're WAY over budget for the year on travel expenses. (To date this year we have paid the kennel $1042.00 -- I wonder what I could offer them in trade?)

Dirk is has been at the shop all day today. When I talked with him earlier he has two walk-ins for some touch up work, so the day wasn't a total bust.

Just got a phone call from some dumbass who's female boxer is fighting with their male -- they want to give her up. Oh, and by the way they think she is pregnant. Great! We have dogs who we can't find homes for and now I have to find someone who doesn't have any other pets, who is trustworthy and able to foster this boxer until she has her puppies -- and then we have to find qualified homes for the puppies.

Where the fuck are the brains of these people??? We are *overflowing* with dogs, yet every day in the paper some other moron is offering their boxer puppies for sale for $600 to anyone who calls....they don't care if the person is able to care for the dog, has a fenced in yard, has the time for an energetic boxer who NEEDS constant attention...they don't care that the buyer won't give the dog the proper obedience training or socialization because when they buyer has an unruly and stubborn 2 year old boxer who are they going to call? Not the backyard breeder who could give a shit, but Ho-Bo Care and we'll be expected to find a good, safe home for their out of control boxer.

Well, getting wanked off about this isn't going to change the situation. I better get on the phone and see if I can find someone to help us by taking this pregnant bitch in..sigh...it never ends...

"If i had a photograph of you, It's something to remind me.I wouldn't spend my life just wishing." -- Wishing, A Flock of Seagulls

To see more photos from the trip to Las Vegas:
LAS VEGAS PHOTO ALBUM

When to the Colorado Ballet last night and saw 'Dracula' and it was terrific. I should have guessed that when we were heading out the door that the traffic would be shitty and the weather even worse. [When we saw Dracula last year, I thought we would never make it and we had Bella and Brian waiting patiently at the restaurant for us. LOL]

As usual, we first went to Le Central which is one of my favorite places to have dinner. I hated having to rush through dinner so that we made the show, but now I just an excuse to go again soon. :)

Had a great lunch with Osran on Friday at our usual spot for soup, salad and gossip.

"..let me tell you about my best friend.." - Theme from The Courtship of Eddie's Father

The trip to Vegas was a wonderful little vacation from life! We have such a wonderful time staying with Brianne and Cameron; they are a great couple and we always have great time with them.

We originally planned on driving down on Thursday stopping at Bryce Canyon on the way and arriving in Vegas on Friday night. But when I found out that Jo was already there we drove straight through to get there on Thursday night. :) We got to Brianne's unpacked all our wares, got some much needed sustanance into Dirk's belly and headed over to Shonna's house to cackle.

Brianne had to work on Friday. So we are sitting around with Cameron when the doorbell rings -- Cameron goes to open it and I hear "Is Pixie here?" Cameron looks at me like "Uh, you have a guest??" It was Jo. LOL Then Corey came by and the three of us sat out on Brianne's patio laughing and gossiping about nothing in particular.

Corey's Tattoo On Friday afternoon Dirk gave Corey a beautiful tattoo on her back; boy was Brianne shocked when she came home from work to see that all going on in her kitchen.

On Friday night Anna and Georgia arrived, so Saturday morning was filled with hugs, laughter and chatter before the Wiccaning.

The Wiccaning was beautiful and I can't wait to see the pictures. Frenchie's crepe lived up to the hype. The RenFaire was a blast and we got lots of pictures there as well. Georgia was fast with the camera and managed to get a shot of Dirk's 'kilt check'. LOL

Jo won a "jig" contest when she danced on stage. Dirk got some great pictures that I will get uploaded from the camera later tonight.

Sunday was the memorial at the Sekemet Temple and was beautiful. Corey summed it up in a post where she described it like having the characters of a favorite book step out of the pages.

I wish they all lived closer to me....there is never a chance of me moving to Vegas; not offense to anyone who lives there, but it smells funny. LOL

"Am i just in heaven or las vegas..." - Cocteau Twins

I am so excited about our impending Vegas trip, even the 11 hour ride there will be fun. Dirk and I have a little stack of books on CD (including one Discworld novel to introduce Dirk to that wild wacky world). We plan on stopping at Bryce Canyon on the way down as I think this is such a magickal place and want Dirk to see it.

The best part of this trip is getting away from "life" for awhile which is what I really need.

My mom has been on me for months now to make sure that I am keeping up with my checkups in light of all that she has been going through. I went to the Dr. on Monday and now have to go get a bilateral mammogram and an ultrasound to check out 2 "masses". I didn't tell my mom because she will totally fall apart and she can't afford not to be concentrating on herself right now. I tried to get an appointment scheduled for tomorrow but the freaking place didn't call me back yet. I am not worrying about this because it won't change anything and honestly, I am sure that it's nothing. The only thing that I find odd is that one is in the exact place I told my mom I was going to have a pink ribbon tattoo'ed in her honor.

Mom hopes to start her next round of chemo on Thursday so that we can all spend time in Florida together in December. She told us come "hell or high water SOMEONE is going to Siesta Key for Christmas", meaning if she can't go, I better plan on having a great time at the beach without her or I'll never hear the end of it. LOL

Well, I have to get dinner started and finish looking over the lists of everything that needs to be in car with us to go to Vegas....humming "Viva, Las Vegas"....

"Rest your head...you worry too much" -- Kate Bush

This snippet has been rushing through my head for days... I have been so swamped with work, boxers and life and so desperately need a breather. I am so excited about heading to Las Vegas next week that I've already started packing. The dogs have their reservations all set up and I've starting packing them for their mini vacation at Club Pet.

Talked with Jo this morning about a tarot reading that had her thinking that she was going to die on Tuesday. I dedicate the song snippet running through my head to her as well. I pulled a card for her to sum up Tuesday -- 3 of Cups.

Three: The number of creation, growth, flowering and regeneration
Cups: The card of emotions, moods, relationships, dreams

This is the card of celebration, a reminder to have some fun in your life. Celebrate the bounty that has been given to you by the Goddess!

I got a new tattoo -- woo-hooo! I got a pair of acorns with a background of black oak leaves on the top of my right foot. I wish I had $1.00 for each time someone has asked, "Did it hurt?" Sheesh! Of COURSE it hurt, someone took a needle filled with ink, rammed it under the very thin skin of my foot over and over and over again.... LOL It's healing very nicely and still looks great.

Symbolism is something that I love. I got the acorns because Pixies get their magick from burying acorns in the earth. So, now when I need to little recharging all I need to do is go push my toes in the warm moist earth of my gardens. I was considering getting a symbol for where Dirk gets his magick on my other foot and realized he gets his from working with his tools --- I kidded around with him about getting a wrench with hex nuts on the left foot and his response was "Really?? You'd do that?"

Uh, honestly. No.

We laughed at how I would have nuts on both my feet. When the right image presents itself I'll know and be ready to get it inked.
